DEPTH OF FIELD

FACTUAL: This image was taken by Annie Leibovitz in 2007. 
THE CONTEXT: This was apart of the collection 'Disney dream portrait'. Annie Leibovitz used Scarlett Johansson to be the model for 'Cinderella'. It fits with the rest of the body of work because it is a very famous Disney story, and this shot is where she has to run of before the cloak strikes 12.   
TECHNICAL: The main focus of this image is Cinderella and her beautiful blue dress, despite how bright and lite up the castle it, the attention is still on Cinderella at the bottom of the stairs.  
AESTHETIC: The styles of this image is supposed to be a scene from a Disney story. 
MY COMMENTS: I like this image because even thought the castle is so bright and bold in the background nothing can take the attention away from Cinderella and her beautiful dress.
DEPTH OF FIELD: Is the distance between the nearest and the furthest object giving a focused image.

This is an example of how to get 'short' and 'long' depth of field 

 

LIGHTING

FACTUAL: This image is by Annie Liebovitz, she was born October 2nd, 1949, in Waterbury.
THE CONTEXT: I think that the place where the image was taken could of been on a stage because of the lighting. Also the model makes the image look more elegant.
TECHNICAL:The lights are very bright in this image and they are pointed at the model, i think the rule of thirds was used also.It brings out the dress more.
AESTHETIC: The photo is lite up very well and they are amid at the main feature of the image.
MT COMMENTS: I like this image because the lighting show of the dress, and makes it stand out.
LIGHTING: There are different types of lighting, for example soft lighting, hard lighting, natural lighting and flash lighting. But for this image i think that they have used soft lighting from different angles to make her dress look more softer, so there isn't any harsh lines.

FOCAL POINT

FOCAL POINT: A focal point is the part of an image that draws the eye of a viewer to the most important part of the image or the area that you want to highlight. I these images I think that the blood and hair are the main focal points because the models faces and bodies are very pale, almost blending into the water.
FACTUAL: These images are taken by the photographer Manuela Kali these images are in the series 'White Gallery' 
THE CONTEXT: The models look like they have been submerged in water that is slightly cloudy. As a result of this the focal point of these images are the models face and also what hey are holding or the added thing to the water. The water appears to be very shallow because the models look like they have been brought very close to the surface of the water. Making them a clearer focal point.  
TECHNICAL: The lighting in this image is dull because there is no glare on the water or it has been edited out after. I think that the there are lights from nearly every angle because there isn't any shadowing at the edges of the images. Having the lighting like this makes the water look very flat and he models closer to the surface of the cloudy water.
AESTHETIC: I think these images are quite bold because of the point of the images, the message that they are trying to get across.

COMPOSITION

 FACTUAL: This photo was taken by Annie Leibovitz: born October 2, 1949. She was given her first commercial assignment for the Rolling stones magazine, to photograph John Lennon in 1970, whilst she was still a student.    

THE CONTEXT: This is part of the collection 'Disney dream portraits'. This photo fits with the rest of the group of work because it's a scene from a Disney film, like the rest of the photos. 

TECHNICAL: I think that there is a green screen as the background, but the area with the model is real with props and a costume. She has used the rule of thirds.

AESTHETIC: I like this image because the background really sets the mood for the image, being cloudy, dark and grey it makes the mood dull, like there is about to be a storm. I also like that the red cloak stands out from it's surroundings, being in the only bright color. 

MY COMMENTS: I thinks this shows composition because she has used the rule of thirds to capture a more well put together and well thought of image. Because the viewers eyes are going to be more attracted to the bright color of the cloak and the water between the two cliff sides. 

The rule of thirds is when the image is sectioned into columns and rows of thirds, so that you would have 9 parts. The idea is that you would place the main area of the image along these 4 lines so the image is more balanced.

FIRST ANALYSIS

FACTUAL: These are a series of images taken by fashion photographer Manuela Kali. The series is called 'Andromeda'.

CONTEXT: I think the idea of these images is to portray a strong emotion of sorrow or numbness.      
TECHNICAL: The images looks like it has been taken on a beach when there is a storm brewing. Because of the models hair being blown everywhere and the haziness of the models face and her paleness, it could mean that the weather is cold and there is a harsh wind; this adds to the mood and atmosphere of the images. I don't think that there is a flash being used on the camera as the models skin looks dull and colourless.    

AESTHETIC: The aesthetics of these images is dark, which could lead to the idea of depression. Also there are some very bold dark colours but at the same time there is a sense of blurriness, almost as if the subject of the images' thoughts are hazy.
